Agreeing with Asbe, Salt App co-founder Shinjini Kumar praised the growth of UPI and said that it is unique compared to many payment systems worldwide. “The magic of UPI in remote situations is very useful,” he said. In a conversation with Chandra R Srikanth of Moneycontrol and IFC, Kumar, Asbe and Harshil Mathur, co-founder and CEO of Razorpay, highlighted the importance of constant innovation in the payments space. “The next area of growth will be to identify some specific traditional payment methods and make them innovative. Find the total market that hasn’t seen innovation in payments and close that gap,” said Mathur. “The payment system can’t be a great profit tool,” Asbe said.
