Last date for linking PAN-Aadhaar: The tax department has set the last date for linking the two cards as March 31, 2023, but users will have to pay a penalty of Rs 1,000.
The deadline for linking PAN card with Aadhaar card is set for March 31, 2023. Earlier, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) set the deadline for March 31, 2022, but this was later extended. Now, if Indians link their PAN card with Aadhaar before March 31, they will have to pay a late fee of Rs 1,000. The focus here is on linking PAN card with Aadhaar as this will reduce the number of fake PAN cards being circulated. At the same time, it will improve the efficiency of income tax collection. Multiple PAN cards for one person makes it difficult for authorities to find cases of tax evasion.
