Bharti Airtel has launched various family plans offering monthly data in the range of 105-320GB as it seeks to lure prepaid users to switch to prepaid connections. A company official told PTI that the new plan is to incentivize prepaid customers to switch to postpaid, through which families will be able to use the best amount of data, calls, texts, etc. gathered together in a package. Out of a total of 332 million mobile subscribers, the company had 5.4% paid users in its network in the quarter of December 2022.

Bharti Airtel’s prepaid customers grew by around 8% year-on-year to 18.9 million till December 31, 2022. This new family package makes it possible to connect 2 to 5 mobile phones in one package.

Airtel has bundled Amazon Prime subscription for six months and Disney + Hotstar for one year while offering Netflix at the highest price plan. “Generally, prepaid users in households cannot consume all the data. Integrating OTT services will help them optimize their spending,” said the official.

In the black family plan, Airtel has bundled DTH services with an entry-level plan starting at Rs 799 per month, broadband connection with two prepaid mobile connections for Rs 998 and under the Rs 2,299 plan, the company bundled 4 postpaid connections and DTH and broadband services.

The manager said that although the plan will use these services effectively, the company expects to gain in terms of average revenue per user (ARPU) from family plan subscribers.
